PROCESS UTILIZATION:
To begin the chartered navigation process, a prospective client requests an initial consultation with a medical liaison. We refer to this early dialogue as discovery. The Discovery Engagement typically lasts 75 minutes. This confidential discussion can take place at either one of our offices, in the client’s home, or at a location chosen by the client. Telephonic or electronic consultations are also available, although MML encourages face to face discovery whenever possible. The initial consultation provides the MML liaison an opportunity to provide an overview of the navigation program to gain insight into the client’s problem. The client is free to ask clarification questions regarding the methodology employed and how the liaison/client relationship will evolve. MML does charge a fee for the Discovery Engagement.

Once the client determines that MML can provide a customized solution package, an in-depth follow-up intake interview is offered. A careful and comprehensive intake is necessary to assess the full needs of the client. The intake interview permits the navigation consultant the opportunity to assess the health coordination issue in detail. The intake interview may cover several topics, to include the medical diagnosis, the specialists involved in the patient’s care, the level of consultation involvement desired, a prospective timeline for execution of the treatment plan, and the professional retainer fee. Intake interviews typically last 2.5 hours and will take place at a location specified by the client.

Following the Intake Interview, a detailed health resource map will be prepared by our navigation department. To increase the probability of favorable clinical outcomes, MML advises its clients to execute a healing journey with a precision map that has had health resource waypoints clearly plotted. Guidance is not initiated until the navigation chart has been drafted by our mapping department. Given the chaos prevalent in the healthcare sector, we feel it is essential to navigate the treacherous waters with a knowledgeable Captain at the helm. “.
The term of the relationship between MML and the patient is decided by the client. After carefully assessing the factors surrounding the case, the medical liaison will recommend a period of MML involvement with the client. Of paramount importance to us, is the most advantageous clinical outcome for the patient.
